Pete Hegseth’s wrecking of the military continues:
The departure of the army’s top civilian official was the culmination of months of tension with the defence secretary about the force’s technological transformation and senior military appointments, as well as intractable personal tensions between the two men.
Driscoll, a close friend of vice-president JD Vance, believed Hegseth was causing “generational damage” to the largest branch of the US military, according to a person familiar with his thinking.
Hegseth has been purging the top ranks of the military ever since he took over at the Pentagon, and he has done considerable damage to a force that was already overstretched. The former talk show host has been running the military ragged to carry out the president’s many unnecessary and illegal military campaigns. He is directly responsible for the ongoing murder spree in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Hegseth has not only presided over failed wars in Yemen and Iran, but he has brought lasting shame on the entire institution with the mass murder of 227 civilians. U.S. strikes have also caused hundreds more civilian casualties in Yemen and Iran on Hegseth’s watch.
